The Goff Middle School SADD club is trying to make a difference in classmates’ lives as they first step foot in school. They created posters with a positive message and placed two at the front entrance to school and one at the main stairs.
The poster reads: “Through these doors walk the best young people in the world; And you are one of them.”
“People love the message,” said SADD club co-advisor Peg Siver.
SADD, which stands for Students Against Destructive Decisions, meets once a month during the school year. Their mission is to empower every student to successfully confront the risks and pressures that challenge them in their daily lives.
Eighth grader Abhi Gudapati is happy he joined SADD because he gets to help others. As treasurer, he uses his math skills to manage the club’s budget for things like printing these new posters.
“The posters show you’re valuable and no one else is like you,” he said.
SADD’s next event is Kick Butts Day on March 16 when students will educate others about the dangers related to tobacco use.
