Residents who live in the East Greenbush Central School District are invited to file petitions to be a Board of Education candidate in the upcoming election on May 17. There are three seats up for election this year.

Board of Education candidates must be 18 years of age or older, a U.S. citizen and a resident of the District for a continuous and uninterrupted period of at least one year prior to the election.

If interested, you may file a petition with the District Clerk by April 18 at 5 p.m. The petition must include at least 40 signatures from qualified District voters, meaning they must be 18 years of age or older, a U.S. citizen and a resident for at least 30 days. Nominating petitions are available in the Business Office at 29 Englewood Ave., East Greenbush, N.Y., 12061.

About the Board of Education

The Board of Education is comprised of nine volunteer members from the community who are elected by District voters for three-year terms. The Board establishes policy and sets the direction for the administration of the school district. Public meetings are held twice monthly.
