CHS Golf TournamentColumbia High School raised approximately $5,000 for the PTSO at its annual golf tournament on May 23 at Burden Lake Country Club in Averill Park. More than 40 golfers hit the links for an afternoon of fun in support of education.

The money raised will be used by the PTSO to fund enrichment programs, purchase review books, pay for student admission to summer camps and other school needs.

“Our PTSO does so much for our school community, so it’s important that we can help provide them with funding through events such as this,” said Columbia Principal John Sawchuk.

Four staff members who are retiring at the end of the school year were honored at the event, including Mary Ellen Caporta, Jill Leinung, Kathy Rutherford and Monica Blanchfield.

Thirty generous sponsors helped make the event possible.
