Seven District teachers received the Golden Apple Award for Teaching Excellence from Senator Kathleen Marchione on Thursday. Each teacher received a certificate and a golden apple lapel pin, and their school will receive $500 in their names from the New York State Senate.

The recipients included Carol Adams (Bell Top Elementary School), Allison Flynn (Donald P. Sutherland Elementary School), Megan Scolaro (Citizen Genet Elementary School), Linda Kaminski (Green Meadow Elementary School), Jacqui Nagy (Red Mill Elementary School), Kelley Sheraw (Columbia High School) and Patricia Thorman (Howard L. Goff Middle School).

Superintendent Dr. Angela Nagle presented the recipients with their certificates and each building principal read their nomination letter aloud.

“I want to thank Senator Marchione for her unwavering support of our teachers, our students and public education,” Dr. Nagle said. “These outstanding teachers are deserving of this prestigious award.”
