Fourth graders from across East Greenbush CSD had the opportunity to hear older students play all of the instruments in the music program on Tuesday and Wednesday as part of the 2017 Instrumental Festival.

The event allows fourth graders to hear different instruments – both orchestral and band – and decide if they want to try one next year.

“It has become a great tradition in our department to hold this annual event,” said Music Department Chair Scott Halliday. “All students get to see and hear the progression of development as we begin the morning with the fifth grade ensembles – students who have been playing five months – and continue through high school where students have been playing for several years.”

In addition to each of the bands and orchestras playing as groups on stage, individual high school students played samples of songs such as “Let It Go,” “Super Mario Bros.,” “Little Einsteins,” and “Be Our Guest” to show off each instrument on its own.
