Learning about the periodic table moved out of the textbook and into the hallway at Howard L. Goff Middle School as 8th graders depicted each of the 118 elements on a large scale.
Each student was assigned an element, researched it and then illustrated a sheet of paper to represent that element. The designs were then hung on the wall in the shape of chemistry’s fundamental table.
“They had to become the expert,” said science teacher Jenna Wood. “And they did a really good job.”
Science teacher Ron Montesi said the assignment helps engage the students. It also serves as a reminder for the younger students who eventually work on this project.
“They know it’s going up on the wall,” he said.
