NYSPRA logoEast Greenbush Central School District won statewide recognition from the New York School Public Relations Association (NYSPRA) earlier this week for its communication of the capital project proposal last school year.

Of the 439 entries from across the state in categories such as writing, newsletters, social media and video, about one third received awards.

East Greenbush CSD was one of four school districts to be given an Award of Excellence (the highest level) for the Strategic Campaign category. The campaign informed district voters about the proposed $39 million capital project through a multi-layered strategy involving digital and print materials, as well as public meetings.

The campaign was a success as voters approved all three capital project propositions by a supermajority.

“This capital project includes necessary work to improve every one of our buildings, but the cost is not insignificant,” said Superintendent Jeff Simons, “so it was imperative that we communicated to our residents what the project entailed, and how it would impact students, families and our community. I am pleased that we are being recognized for our efforts in informing the public about this important project.”

NYSPRA is a state chapter of the National School Public Relations Association. It is dedicated to the development and dissemination of educational communications that engage parents, staff, community residents, partners in education and other stakeholders.

This is the third consecutive year East Greenbush CSD has been honored by NYSPRA.
