Fourth graders at Genet Elementary School recently visited the Ndakinna Education Center (pronounced en-dak-enna) in Greenfield Center as part of the Native American social studies unit.
Students learned about how local tribes lived, hunted for food, built shelters and made fire.
“It was so nice to see our students learn Native American history while fostering a class community,” said 4th grade teacher Jenna Turnbull. “Students could only succeed in shelter building and creating a fire through the use of teamwork and collaboration.”
