Goff student digs through fossil sedimentGoff Middle School students went digging for fossils in science class recently as part of a fun Next Generation Science Standards lesson.

The students in Marian Roohan and Sandy Crall’s classes were given samples of real fossil sediment from the Pliocene epoch (2.58 to 5.3 million years ago) and were able to find fossils and identify them using a key.

The teachers had ordered the sediment from the Aurora Fossil Museum in North Carolina after Mrs. Roohan attended a presentation at a Smithsonian conference last summer.
