Dear Parents,

Students at the Green Meadow Carnival

Students enjoying the Green Meadow Carnival last month.

I’d like to welcome our students and staff back from vacation. I hope everyone had a chance to relax and spend some time with family and friends. I am hopeful it will soon warm up and actually feel like spring!

The Green Meadow Carnival held in March was a great success. It was good to see so many students and their families enjoying themselves while participating in the many activities. The event raised much needed funds for our PTO. Thank you to our PTO for hosting such a great event and for the support they provide for our school community!

All parents and community members are invited to attend our next PTO meeting on April 10 at 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Jeffrey Simons, and Assistant Superintendent for School Business Finance, Mr. Larry Edson, will present very important information about the 2018-2019 school budget. I encourage you to attend this PTO meeting. This is a great opportunity to ask questions and stay informed.

As previously communicated with you, students in the third, fourth, and fifth grades are taking the English Language Arts New York State Assessment this week on April 11th and 12th. They will be taking the New York State Math Assessments on May 1st and 2nd.  It is important for students and parents to remember that these assessments are only one tool used to assess how our students are making academic progress.

I am happy to announce that we recently received a grant from the Stewart’s Shops Holiday Match program. These funds will be used to support our character education program. On behalf of the entire Green Meadow staff, I would like to thank Stewart’s for their generosity.

As always, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Best regards,

Daniel G. Garab
