After months of hard work, a regional championship and a second place finish at the New York State Championship, the Howard L. Goff Middle School Science Olympiad team competed among the top 60 middle school teams in the country at the National Championship this past weekend in Colorado.
Goff finished in 19th place overall with several strong performances, including Ethan Trautman and Clara Xin earning a 5th place medal in the event Disease Detective.
“I am so very proud of these students and their accomplishments,” said head coach Donnamarie Vlieg. “This was a great achievement considering the extraordinary level of competition from teams across the United States. It was an amazing experience just to be at Nationals! We are so thankful for the wonderful support that we have received from the East Greenbush community.”
