Third graders at Red Mill Elementary School marveled at erupting volcanoes and shimmering colors during hands-on science experiments last week. The students studied chemical reactions under the instruction of Regeneron volunteers.

“Overall, the students enjoyed Regenron’s visit,” said 3rd grade teacher Tom Brownell. “Classrooms were filled with ‘oohs’ and ‘ahhs’ as each experiment was conducted. Regeneron takes time out to visit Red Mill School each year and we appreciate the effort that their volunteers put forward. Students definitely look forward to Regeneron’s visit.”

The students also made homemade vanilla ice cream that they got to taste at the end of the lessons.

Regeneron’s scientists, which have a lab in Rensselaer, visited as part of their community service program.
