East Greenbush Central School District hosted a free workshop for parents last week at Columbia High School to discuss the growing issue of anxiety in children nationwide. The workshop showed parents what to look for, and how to recognize different types of anxiety, such as perfectionism, separation anxiety, phobias and generalized anxiety. Parents also learned tips and strategies for helping children cope with and overcome anxiety.

This was the second in a series of parent workshops being led by Dr. Jennifer Bashant, a social worker and education trainer.

Parents who were not able to attend the workshop are invited to view the following resources below:

The next free workshop for parents in this series will be “Mindfulness at Home” on Tuesday, February 5 from 7:00-8:00 p.m. in the Columbia High School Auditorium.
