Fourth graders from across East Greenbush Central School District had the opportunity to hear older students play all of the instruments in the music program as part of the 2019 Instrumental Festival earlier this week. The two-day concert is meant to showcase musical options for students before entering 5th grade. It is also an opportunity for orchestra and band students to perform for classmates and teachers.

In addition to each of the bands and orchestras performing as groups on stage, music teachers Scott Halliday and Susan Chrzan talked about each of the instruments and had individual high school students play samples of songs for the audience, including popular music from Star Wars, The Little Mermaid and The Pink Panther.

“The music students did a tremendous job at the music festivals this week!” said Mr. Halliday. “It is great to see the musical development in each of the ensembles as students move from grade 5 through grade 12.”

Special thanks to all of the district’s orchestra and band teachers: Mr. Halliday, Mr. Kusche, Mrs. Chrzan, Mr. Bresnahan, Mrs. LaVoie, Mr. Lawrence, Mr. Halek, Mrs. Scolaro and Mr. Tario.
