Dear Green Meadow Families,

I hope you are enjoying the remainder of your summer.  The new school year is just around the corner. Soon the hallways and classrooms will be filled with students!  The start of a school year can be a very exciting time for students, staff, and families. To all of our new families, I extend a warm welcome to the Green Meadow community! It is our goal at Green Meadow to make the 2019-2020 school year the best ever.

It has been a very busy summer at Green Meadow. As part of a multi-year capital improvement project passed by voters in 2017, much work is being completed during the first phase here at Green Meadow and across the district.

That work includes safety upgrades such as asbestos abatement, replacement of the public address system; security card access controls; security systems and surveillance cameras; fire, smoke and carbon monoxide alarm systems; and new Cisco phone systems.

The work taking place at school is not preventing our maintenance staff from doing an outstanding job preparing our building for the opening of school. They have truly done remarkable work getting us back in shape under these circumstances. Their efforts are greatly appreciated.

The first day of school for all students will be Thursday, September 5th. Bus route information is enclosed for your reference. Route information can also be found on the school district website.

A “Kindergarten Meet & Greet” is scheduled for Wednesday, September 4th from 2:00 -3:00. This will be a time for kindergarten students only to meet their teacher, visit their new classroom, and drop off supplies.  The building will be open from 2:00-3:00 for incoming kindergarteners and their parents only. Please note other areas of the building will not be accessible.

Kindergarten teachers will be mailing parents a detailed information packet regarding their program in late August. You may also refer to the information you received at the kindergarten screening in the spring.

General supply lists for all grade levels are posted on the Green Meadow website in the “Parent Information” section. If you need assistance obtaining school supplies, please contact our school counselor, Laurie Scaringe, at ScaringeLa@egcsd.org, or our social worker, Maria Fontaine, at FontaiMa@egcsd.org.

We have a very active Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) at Green Meadow Elementary School. They support our students and staff in so many meaningful ways. If you are not already actively involved, I encourage you to do so. Please click on the PTO link on the Green Meadow website to sign up for text and email alerts regarding PTO items.

The PTO will be hosting the annual Welcome Back Social on Friday, September 13th beginning at 5:00 p.m. In the event of inclement weather it will be held indoors. This event is a great way for families to get together after a long summer. I look forward to seeing you there!

I am confident that the 2019-2020 school year will prove to be another successful year. Please enjoy the remaining days of summer. I look forward to seeing you soon.

Sincerely,

Daniel G. Garab
Principal
