Capital Project

The East Greenbush CSD has proposed a $116 million capital project that, if approved by voters, would improve facilities and grounds at all seven schools at no additional cost to the local taxpayer. Students from Genet, Green Meadow and Red Mill participated in International Dot Day on Friday, a day that celebrates creativity, courage and collaboration promoted in the children’s book “The Dot” by Peter H. Reynolds.

Classes read the book, which tells the story of a young student named Vashti who feels discouraged and uncreative when working on an art project. A teacher encourages her to “make her mark,” and see where it takes her. Vashti ends up learning how creative she is, and inspires another student to “make their mark.”

After reading the book, students participated in a number of activities related to the book’s theme. They even created colorful murals on long sheets of paper made from students’ own dot designs.
