The East Greenbush school community came together to celebrate four special individuals and raised approximately $11,400 for students at the East Greenbush Education Foundation’s annual gala on April 12.

Approximately 150 people attended the popular springtime event which featured dinner, raffles, student performances and an awards ceremony.

Three alumni – Paul Bigness ’95, Tim Nickels ’74 and Erin (Mensing) Tarbox ’99 – were inducted into the Columbia High School Hall of Fame and Mark Mann received the Community Member Award for his contributions to the school district as a former police officer, D.A.R.E. officer and current Board of Education member.

“The Education Foundation is appreciative of and humbled by the support of the East Greenbush community and the school district,” said Steve Taylor, president of the East Greenbush Education Foundation. “There are so many people who work very hard to ensure that the students who live in East Greenbush are well educated and cared for. This is a great community and I am very proud to be a part of it.”

All proceeds from the gala go towards senior awards and providing summer enrichment grants for East Greenbush Central School District students to attend in areas such as athletics, music, the arts and leadership training.
