2008 Columbia College Acceptance List
The Foreign Language Introduction Program (FLIP) was initiated in the mid ‘80’s between high school French teacher Pat Sacca and DPS elementary teacher Helen Schwarz (previously at Red Mill). Both teachers expressed satisfaction with the results gained at both levels. Before a standard program was developed, Mrs. Schwarz had incorporated language diversity within her multi-age classroom using the Russian language (which included a trip to the Russian Embassy).
This program has run continuously for over twenty years, with the exception of the last two years. This year, the Foreign Language Introduction Program created an excitement for language diversity in all five district elementary schools and in the high school Levels 4 and 5 foreign language classes, under the direction of teachers Pat Sacca and Patty Hannmann (French), Rune Williams (German) and Lou Martinez (Spanish).
