Schools Install New Security System

Have you heard the buzz? The district installed a new security system at the elementary schools and Goff Middle School. The system, funded by the construction project approved by residents in March 2007, allows schools to “buzz” visitors into the building. Doors will be locked during the day and the main entrance will serve as the single point of entry for all visitors.

To enter a school building, please follow the steps below:

  • Press the buzzer button located outside the front entrance. If the office staff recognizes you, they will buzz you into the lobby. Please immediately report to the main office to sign in and receive a visitor’s badge. At the end of your visit, remember to sign out in the main office and use the front door to exit.
  • If the office staff does not recognize you, you will be asked to state your name, reason for visit, and show identification. If identification cannot be established, a school administrator will be asked to assist.
  • Please do not hold the door open for other visitors when entering or exiting. This is done to help ensure the safety of students and staff.

Visitors to Genet Elementary School should continue to use the temporary Route 4 entrance until further notice. The school’s front entrance is closed while construction work continues on the tower and roof. The buzz-in system will be used at Genet when its front entrance reopens to the public.

The district appreciates your patience and understanding as it implements this new system. If you have any questions, please contact the building principals.
