Mary P. Vanderzee Special Educator Of the Year Award

The East Greenbush Special Needs Parent Group has named Columbia High School teacher Barbara Neiman Special Educator of the Year. Barbara was nominated by a ninth grade student and her parent for the hard work, dedication and support she provided throughout the school year. In addition for being praised for the excellent home-school communication she provided, Barbara was lauded for her ability to anticipate and always be “one step ahead” of a problem.  Barbara will be recognized at the school board meeting on September 10th, where she will receive the award.

Parent Members Needed for East Greenbush CSE and CPSE committees:
The Committee on preschool and school age Special Education are in great need of volunteers to serve as Parent Member for our committee meetings. 
(A Parent Member is a parent of a student with a disability who serves on the committee and acts as a support or resource to parents whose child is being discussed).

There are a few local trainings that will take place this fall.  If you are interested in becoming a Parent Member of the CSE, please contact Helen Squillace, Director of Special Education at
207-2065 to schedule the training.
