Transportation

The East Greenbush CSD transports nearly 4,500 students to more than 50 schools encompassing four counties twice a day. Our department is proud of our DOT inspection rating, which is 99.2% (with 100% being the highest rating).

Our fleet of 103 school buses are maintained by experienced district mechanics and inspected by the DOT every six months.

School buses lined upAll of our school bus drivers have undergone rigorous training before they get behind the wheel – including:

  • background checks with fingerprinting
  • passing a DMV road test and earning a class B license
  • passing a “physical performance test” that tests coordination, strength and stamina
  • passing a doctor’s physical
  • regular drug testing
  • 50+ hours of classroom and on the road training

We are proud of our safety record and service to the community. Our number one goal is to provide the safest transportation possible for our children!

2024 Utica National School Safety Excellence Award East Greenbush CSD Receives School Safety Excellence Award - For the 21st consecutive year, the East Greenbush Central School District has received the School Safety Excellence Award from Utica National Insurance Group. The district received the Titanium with Honors level designation this year, the highest level available, which includes a $500 check to be used for safety expenses.
Goff Middle School entrance Goff Closing at 10:40 a.m. Due to Power Outage – March 21 - The power is still out at Goff Middle School and the Transportation Center. Based on our conversations with National Grid and the outage's impact on school operations including lunch service, Goff students will be dismissed today at 10:40 a.m. Students will be transported home by school bus to their emergency dismissal locations.
School buses Special Transportation Requests for 2024-25 - Special transportation requests for next school year, including to private schools and daycare or alternate locations, are due to the Transportation Department by April 1, 2024.
