Red Mill Elementary School raised more than $1,300 to donate to Rebuilding Warriors as part of its second annual Character Education Walk on Friday morning.
Escorted by the Clinton Heights Fire Department and East Greenbush Police Department, students and staff from Red Mill and Central Administration participated in the one-mile walk around Hampton Manor Lake.
“The event was a huge success with over 400 students and staff participating,” said Red Mill Social Worker Maria Fontaine.
Rebuilding Warriors trains service dogs to be placed with veterans and active service members. Fred Harting, a trainer from the organization, participated in the walk with Rugby, a 10-month old German shepherd, who will be placed with a veteran this fall.
Students and staff all wore shirts that were made by possible by a Regeneron donation.
