Upcoming COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics

The Rensselaer County Health Department will be hosting COVID-19 vaccine clinics this summer throughout the county. The vaccine is free and walk-ins are welcome. Clinics include: Onderdonk Park, East Greenbush, NY (Tuesday, August 10, 5-7 p.m., J&J); North Greenbush Town Hall, Wynantskill, NY (Sunday, August 22, 5-7 p.m., J&J); Stewart’s Shops, Nassau, NY (Tuesday, August 24, 1:30-3:30 p.m. Pfizer or J&J). The day before Albany’s 38th annual Freihofer’s Run for Women, elite runner and 3-time USA team member Brianne Nelson visited Green Meadow Elementary School. She spoke to students in grades 2-5, including the Green Meadow and Bell Top Running Clubs.

Nelson gave the young runners tips on nutrition, how to train and race strategies. The following day, Nelson won the Freihofer’s Race for Women 5K with a time of 15:46.

After the national race, members of the Green Meadow and Bell Top Running Clubs participated in the 3K Junior Race. Green Meadow’s Carter Norton, Elle Hutton and Alex Swinnie all earned 1st place medals for their age groups. Bell Top’s Cameron Mingle placed fifth place overall and Seana Weerakoon placed first in her age group.
