Dressed in white lab coats and wearing surgical masks, first graders turned into little doctors for a fun writing activity at Red Mill Elementary School on Thursday.

Students cut pieces of paper with mismatched subjects and predicates typed on them and then bandaged them together to form complete sentences. Their teacher, or chief of surgery, Val Santillo began the activity with a lesson about sentence structure and then played a short video on the smart board.

At the end of surgery, students had saved their patients and put the sentences back together. The prognoses for these doctors look good at the Red Mill School of Medicine!
