Students from across the District cast their ballots in mock elections Tuesday, as a part of lessons in social studies related to the presidential election. Over the past few weeks, students learned about topics such as democracy and voting. Following the election, students used results to solve math problems.
“This teaches them about civic duty and the opportunity to have their voices heard,” said Bruce Otto, a fifth grade teacher who helped coordinate Green Meadow’s mock election. “It gets them used to the process and that it’s kind of cool.”
