Kindergarten Returns Full Time Starting March 1

The Board of Education has approved two changes to the instructional model: 1) Kindergarten students will resume five days a week of in-person learning starting on Monday, March 1. The Full Remote Program is still available to families. 2) Live Virtual Wednesdays will be eliminated for students in grades 1-5 starting March 10 to provide one additional in-person school day every other week. March 10 will be an in-person school day for B Day students and A Day students will have a remote day. The schedule will alternate going forward.

Periodic TableLearning about the periodic table moved out of the textbook and into the hallway at Howard L. Goff Middle School as 8th graders depicted each of the 118 elements on a large scale.

Each student was assigned an element, researched it and then illustrated a sheet of paper to represent that element. The designs were then hung on the wall in the shape of chemistry’s fundamental table.

Periodic Table“They had to become the expert,” said science teacher Jenna Wood. “And they did a really good job.”

Science teacher Ron Montesi said the assignment helps engage the students. It also serves as a reminder for the younger students who eventually work on this project.

“They know it’s going up on the wall,” he said.
