Teachers gathered at Columbia High School on Friday for a full day of professional development that focused on instructional technology. Many of the sessions taught staff how to better utilize Google applications such as Classroom, Drive, Docs and Slides.

The program schedule was built based on Board of Education goals and in response to a survey of staff at the beginning of the year.

“It was very clear that staff want to be more knowledgeable and comfortable using technology,” said Assistant Superintendent for Personnel and Professional Development Michele Bowman. “Our hope is that they learned more about these educational tools and how they can bring them into the classroom to benefit students.”

Many thanks to the presenters, the Technology Department for their support, the Physical Education Department for organizing the Wellness Expo and Fitness Fair and the Office of Personnel and Professional Development for coordinating the day’s events.
