Day in and day out, Columbia’s cafeteria staff serve up hot, tasty meals to hungry students. Their care and dedication doesn’t go unnoticed, which was proved on Wednesday with a surprise celebration.
A group of students, joined by Principal John Sawchuk and Superintendent Jeff Simons, walked into the serving area during one of the lunch periods with balloons and a large thank you sign.
“These guys do some much for our kids,” Mr. Sawchuk said.
Jennifer Wilcox, the Columbia kitchen manager, was overwhelmed by the gesture.
“I’m very grateful to receive this acknowledgement,” she said. “It’s great for my team to have this positive feedback. They’re the heart of it.”
