Kindergarten Returns Full Time Starting March 1

The Board of Education has approved two changes to the instructional model: 1) Kindergarten students will resume five days a week of in-person learning starting on Monday, March 1. The Full Remote Program is still available to families. 2) Live Virtual Wednesdays will be eliminated for students in grades 1-5 starting March 10 to provide one additional in-person school day every other week. March 10 will be an in-person school day for B Day students and A Day students will have a remote day. The schedule will alternate going forward.

Red Mill Elementary School’s cafeteria was filled with families to celebrate the fifth grade class at their Moving Up Ceremony on Wednesday morning. Students sat on risers in front of the stage as Principal John Caporta and Superintendent Jeff Simons congratulated them.

“As we celebrate your kids, we should also celebrate the great, rich community at Red Mill School,” Mr. Simons said to the parents.

Ethan Quail, Ryan Krulikowski and Lauren Jenks were presented with the New York State Attorney General’s Triple C Award for “Character, Courage and Commitment.”

Teachers Tim Huneck, Sarah Strock, Ken Bailey and Paula Sobol distributed certificates to each of their students on stage, along with Mr. Simons and Mr. Caporta.

“It’s an emotional, meaningful day for everyone involved,” Mr. Caporta said. “For me, this particular class was a great group of students.”
