The East Greenbush Education Foundation is accepting applications for two new scholarships to be given to Columbia High School seniors. Applications should be submitted to John Evertsen in the Columbia Guidance and Counseling Center by May 1, 2018.

  • The Ruth Hurr Memorial Scholarship
    Ruth Hurr was an English teacher and social studies teacher at the middle school who then went on to teach social studies at the high school. She had a great love of writing and working on community service projects. This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who has demonstrated academic excellence in social studies using effective writing and research. The recipient must also show civic responsibility and promote good citizenship in school and in the community. Must be a Columbia High School senior (male or female) graduating and must be entering his or her first year.
  • The Farnan Family Scholarship Award
    Presented to a senior who plans on entering the business or communications fields, who has shown a commitment to volunteerism, and who has displayed extraordinary teamwork and dedication in athletics and other extracurricular activities. The award is presented by Ryan Farnan ’02 and his family, who are grateful for the support, lessons, and friendships they’ve received as part of the East Greenbush/Columbia community. Must be a Columbia High School graduating senior (male or female) and must be entering his or her first year of college in the fall.
