Students running in the Red Mill Great Apple RaceThe 28th Annual Red Mill Great Apple Race was run at the hallowed grounds of the Red Mill Athletic Field on Friday. A capacity crowd was on hand to watch students display their skills, hustle and determination as they flew down the track at blazing speeds. The efforts of all runners along with the support of parents, grandparents, friends and the community made this year’s race an outstanding success!

All kindergarten and 1st grade students participating ran a distance of 300 meters (once around track). Students in 2nd through 5th grades ran a distance of 600 meters (twice around track). All runners received an apple and a Certificate of Participation.

Goals for all students were to have fun, run their personal best and demonstrate Red Mill spirit and sportsmanship. 1st , 2nd and 3rd place finishers in each grade level, for both boys and girls, received certificates and goodie bags. The Delicious Apple Award was given to those students in grades 1st through 5th who were selected by their physical education teacher for demonstrated outstanding effort, improvement, enthusiasm, hard work and sportsmanship throughout the school year.

Physical Education teachers Mr. Welge and Mr. Steverson would like to congratulate and thank everyone for their support and efforts in making this year’s race a great success.

Special thanks go to the Red Mill PTO, all student runners, classroom teachers and race assistants Linda Cook, Debbie DiMartino and Lisa Herrington.
