On Tuesday, November 20, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advised “U.S. consumers not eat any romaine lettuce, and retailers and restaurants not serve or sell any,” due to an E. coli outbreak across the country.

Students, parents and staff should know that East Greenbush Central School District is following the guidance from the CDC and will not be serving any romaine lettuce in school lunches until further notice.

The East Greenbush Food Service Department will prepare all student and teacher salads with Astorga, Red & Green Leaf, and Green Butter head lettuce from sustainable aquafarms in Berlin, NY and fresh products from the Black Horse Farm in Athens, NY, as well as other approved vendors.
