It’s hard to believe that it is December already! The weather has been a bit unpredictable lately, and snow will soon be on the way. With that we need to be mindful to dress appropriately for the colder weather. Students go outside for recess every day weather permitting. Coats, hats, gloves and suitable footwear is essential.

Our first trimester is over and we have been busy here at Bell Top. We continue with our monthly final-touch assemblies where we focus on character education. For the past month our theme has centered around caring. We will continue to emphasize this character trait through the month of December.

We continue to practice safety drills here at Bell Top. We have one more Lockdown drill and one more Lockout drill scheduled for this month. Fire drills will resume in the spring. Our transportation department also organizes bus drills and the students participated in the most recent drill on Thursday, November 29th. The drivers reviewed the safety rules with all students when they arrived at Bell Top.

The 4th grade concert was a success. Columbia has been a suitable location for our concerts and Ms. Glennie put on a creative medley of songs by the 4th grade students. It was truly a wonderful way to begin the holiday season.

The 5th grade winter concert is on Tuesday, December 18th at 7:00 p.m. in the Columbia High School auditorium. The grade 5 chorus, orchestra and band will be entertaining parents and family members. Please come and enjoy the children as they help get us in the holiday spirit.

The Concerns-U Toy drive is one way we are supporting local children in need. We collected several large bags of new toys between November and December. At our December 20th final touch assembly we will donate all the toys to the Concerns-U representative. Many children in our local communities will enjoy a new toy during this holiday season as a result of our generous giving. I am proud of the support that our families give to others.
