East Greenbush Central School District hosted a free workshop for parents on Tuesday evening at Columbia High School to discuss technology use among children and teens and how to avoid the associated negative effects of overuse through moderation strategies.

The event featured a presentation by Dr. Jennifer Bashant, a social worker and education trainer, as well as discussion amongst the parents in attendance.

“Based on the strong turnout this was obviously a relevant topic for discussion,” said James McHugh, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. “The conversations that took place were engaging and I look forward to our next parent and community session where we will be talking about recognizing and coping with anxiety in our children.”

Parents who were not able to attend the workshop are invited to view the presentation and other resources below:

The next free workshop for parents in this series will be “Recognizing and Coping with Anxiety” on Wednesday, January 9 from 7:00-8:00 p.m. in the Columbia High School Auditorium.
