District Hosts First Meeting for K-5 Redistricting Study

The East Greenbush Central School District hosted its first meeting of the K-5 Redistricting Study at Monday evening’s Budget Review and Advisory Committee meeting. There was a presentation of the 2018-19 East Greenbush Central School District Enrollment Projections report and an introduction of Dr. Lee Bordick, the CASDA faculty member and former Superintendent from Lansingburgh, who will be leading the independent study.

The Board of Education approved the study last month to provide a long-term view of the district’s enrollment projections and its impact on each of the school attendance zones. The objective is to learn more about the district’s future enrollment, how that is being influenced by new home and commercial property development and what the instructional needs will be for students as the district plans for the future.

The K-5 Redistricting Study is a result of feedback district officials received during community forums they hosted in January regarding the proposed rezoning plan.

The study is expected to take approximately 10 months and will include an evaluation of current enrollment reports, discussions with town planning boards, public meetings with the BRAC committee and, at the end, a set of findings and recommendations for review by school administrators and the Board of Education.
