Kindergarten Returns Full Time Starting March 1

The Board of Education has approved two changes to the instructional model: 1) Kindergarten students will resume five days a week of in-person learning starting on Monday, March 1. The Full Remote Program is still available to families. 2) Live Virtual Wednesdays will be eliminated for students in grades 1-5 starting March 10 to provide one additional in-person school day every other week. March 10 will be an in-person school day for B Day students and A Day students will have a remote day. The schedule will alternate going forward.

Prom dressesUPDATE – April 10, 2019
Columbia is now only accepting prom dresses.

ORIGINAL POST – March 29, 2019
Prom season is on the way, and that means students will soon be shopping for dresses and suits. Unfortunately, not all families can afford formal wear. To help give students a fun and memorable prom, Columbia High School is accepting donations of new and used formal wear and will provide it for free to any student in need.

Any donated clothing will be brought to The Closet, a free clothing store for all students on the second floor of the high school. Social workers and other school staff bring students to The Closet throughout the school year to browse the racks and select clothing for free.

“This a great program that gives every student the opportunity to have an enjoyable prom,” said Columbia Principal Michael Harkin. “I hope our school community can support this effort with the same commitment it always shows.”

The Closet is now accepting:

  • Dresses
  • Suits
  • Blazers
  • Dress Shirts/Pants
  • Ties
  • Belts
  • Men’s/Women’s Dress Shoes

Any donations can be brought to Julia Ely in the Guidance Department and they will be made available to students.
