Kindergarten Returns Full Time Starting March 1

The Board of Education has approved two changes to the instructional model: 1) Kindergarten students will resume five days a week of in-person learning starting on Monday, March 1. The Full Remote Program is still available to families. 2) Live Virtual Wednesdays will be eliminated for students in grades 1-5 starting March 10 to provide one additional in-person school day every other week. March 10 will be an in-person school day for B Day students and A Day students will have a remote day. The schedule will alternate going forward.

Tracey West signs book for studentChildren’s book author Tracey West visited Genet Elementary School on April 16 to talk about reading and writing with students. She has written more than 400 books including the Dragon Masters series.

During her visit, Ms. West gave presentations to first and second grade students, which included a discussion on books and publishing. She also autographed books and answered questions from students.

“Having a real-life author come visit Genet first and second graders was a motivator for many of the students,” said Tina Rudzinski, Genet 2nd grade teacher. “Students had the opportunity to read Tracey West’s books prior to her visit and were excited to learn the process she goes through in creating each new story, including her newest book in the Dragon Master series.”

Special thanks to Genet parent Jessica Sweeney for organizing this event!
