In accordance with state regulations, school districts are required to develop a District Code of Conduct and update it annually. The purpose of the Code of Conduct is to “promote the maximum growth of every student served in the District and to further ensure that every reasonable effort will be made to provide a safe and secure learning environment free from all forms of physical and psychological threats or acts of an injurious nature.”
In order to achieve these ends, it is important that the rules, and their application, be both consistent and flexible, so that all students feel they have been treated fairly, in view of the circumstances in each case.
The District Code of Conduct will be open for public comment from Wednesday, June 12, 2019 through Friday, July 12, 2019. After this period ends, the plan will go to the Board of Education.
