Donald P. Sutherland Elementary School students got a sneak preview of next school year during Bump Up Day on Wednesday. The special day towards the end of the school year allows students to “bump up” to the next grade level to meet those teachers, see those classrooms and find out what they will be learning about when they come back to school in September.
“Bump Up Day was created last year to help lessen any worries that the children may have in regards to transitioning to the next grade level,” said 1st Grade Teacher Allison Flynn. “The children really enjoy ‘bumping up’ to the next grade, seeing who their teachers may be, and participating in some activities at that grade level. This was our second annual bump up day and many children were asking prior to the event when it was going to take place!”
