Dear Bell Top Parents/Guardians,

Bell Top Elementary School will be conducting our first Lockdown drill of the school year on Thursday, October 24th at 9:40 a.m. Law enforcement will be present at the school to assist with the Lockdown drill. The drill will last approximately 20 minutes.

I wanted to provide you with information about this first lockdown drill, because the school district made several upgrades to our security systems over the summer. The upgrades include a new public address system, phones, clocks, and strobe lights. During the Lockdown Drill, an announcement will be repeated over the public address system and strobe lights will flash on the inside and outside of the building. Please do not approach the building if the amber strobe lights are activated.

Lockdown procedures in the classrooms have not changed. Teachers are reviewing the procedures with their students, so everyone will know what to expect during the drill. I will be sending out a School Messenger text alert at the beginning and at the end of this first Lockdown drill. The message will go out to all Bell Top parents and guardians who currently receive School Messenger text alerts. If you would like to opt-in to School Messenger text alerts, please visit egcsd.org/alert for more information.

Our goal is to keep all members of our school community safe. Practicing these drills is an important component of our building level safety plan. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,
Martin Mahar
