Governor Andrew Cuomo announced on Monday that, starting Wednesday, March 18, all public schools will be closed through April 1.

The East Greenbush Central School District is committed to providing educational resources for our students during this time, but we also realize that you cannot replicate the school day for your child. District staff will contact students and parents directly with self or parent-guided materials, either online or in some cases through paper packets. We encourage parents to maintain a schedule and routine to provide as much normalcy as possible for children. View EGCSD Student Online Resources.

Pickup of Materials

Learning materials for grades 3-12 are posted online in Google Classroom. Those parents do not need to pickup learning materials at schools unless otherwise directed.

Because of the impending school closure, parents who need to pickup other materials (e.g., packets for younger students, books, eyeglasses) from school should do so on Tuesday, March 17. Please refer to the schedule below. If you cannot make it to school during this timeframe, let us know and we can make accommodations.

Free and Reduced Price Meals

East Greenbush CSD is offering free Grab n Go meals to any of our families in need during this temporary school break. Donald P. Sutherland and Red Mill Elementary Schools have been designated as the two pickup sites starting Thursday, March 19.

Meal Pick Up Times:

  • Donald P. Sutherland, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

  • Red Mill Elementary, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Families will be given that day’s lunch and the next day’s breakfast at once. If your family is eligible for Free and Reduced Meals, and have no means possible for pick up, delivery can be arranged through the Transportation Department. If delivery is needed, you MUST call the transportation office between the hours of 7 a.m.-9 a.m. Lunches will then be delivered between 11 a.m.-Noon. We will be unable to come to the door, so we ask that the parent/guardian/student come to the bus. Grab and Go meals will have perishable items and can not be left unattended.

Backpack Programs

While schools are closed, our Backpack Programs will continue to serve families. If you are interested in donating non-perishable items, please contact Athletic Director Michael Leonard at leonarmi@egcsd.org. Those items will be distributed to each of our schools for our families in need.

Mental Health Services

School counselors, social workers and psychologists will be checking in with students who require these services throughout this school break. If you need to speak with one of these staff members, please use the District Staff Directory or our Dignity Act Coordinators list.
