The following information was emailed to district staff and parents on Wednesday, July 8.

We would like to provide you with an update on reopening schools in September. We have been planning for different scenarios (in-person, remote and hybrid) and purchasing additional resources such as personal protective equipment, thermometers and cleaning supplies. To date, we have not received final guidance on reopening from the state.

Governor Andrew Cuomo announced today that this guidance will be released to school districts on July 13. Individual school district reopening plans will be due to the state by July 31 and the Governor will make a decision on reopening during the week of August 1.

As you can imagine, we have a lot of work to finalize a reopening plan that ensures the safety of our students and staff. We ask for your patience as we work through this planning process and await future decisions at the state level. We will be engaging the community via surveys and through our School Opening Task Force which is representative of all stakeholders – parents, students and staff. As we develop reopening plans for submission to the state, our priorities will be the health and safety of all students and staff and the academic and social emotional needs of our students.
