The East Greenbush Central School District shared its reopening plans for a full remote option, contact tracing and testing on Friday afternoon. Each of these plans were required to be posted on the school website by New York State.

Full Remote Plan

Parents have the choice of sending their children back to school through the proposed hybrid plan or keeping them home and opting for a full remote option. The district is offering families the opportunity to make these choices in recognition of the unique health and safety concerns related to COVID-19. It will also provide the district with important information necessary to plan for the start of school, such as student scheduling, staffing assignments and bus routes.

The enrollment choice period will be open through Friday, August 21 at 5:00 p.m. Families’ selections will apply through the first marking period, which ends Friday, November 6. If a parent does not submit the enrollment choice form by the deadline, their student(s) will be assigned to the hybrid instructional plan and included in the transportation bus routes. (Please note: the district may not accommodate changes to enrollment choice selections after August 21 until the first marking period ends.)

Parents will be receiving the Enrollment Choice Form via email.

Contact Tracing and Testing Plans

The East Greenbush Central School District, in consultation with the Rensselaer County Health Department and Questar III BOCES, has developed a Contact Tracing Plan and a Testing Plan. Each of these plans has been added to the district’s Reopening Plan that was submitted to the state in July.

Additional Community Forums

The school community is invited to two more virtual presentations of the reopening plans this coming week. These are opportunities for students, staff, families and residents to learn more about the plan and provide feedback.

  • Reopening Community Forum – Tuesday, August 18 at 6:30 p.m.
  • Board of Education Meeting – Wednesday, August 19 at 7:00 p.m.
