Columbia High School will welcome its incoming 9th graders and any new students to Freshman and New Student Orientation on Thursday, August 27 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The class has been divided into five smaller groups to ensure physical distancing and the times for each group are listed below.

Students will be greeted outside the main entrance to Columbia by administration and a small group of student ambassadors. Each student will be given a folder containing a map with several highlighted destinations to locate and a “freshman survival guide.” Ambassadors will explain the QR self-guided tour and demonstrate what to do at each of the 12 highlighted destinations. Each session will last one hour. Students will exit the building via the west lobby doors near the auditorium and walk to the lower parking lot to be picked up.

Arrival times are determined by students’ last name. Please adhere to these times:

  •  9:00 Last name starts with letters A – C
  • 10:00 Last name starts with letters D – H
  • 11:00 Last name starts with letters I – L
  • 12:00 Last name starts with letters M – R

Students will be required to wear a mask for the entire time they are on campus. Before entering the building, students will sign-in, use hand sanitizer, and have their temperatures taken. Staff will be on hand to ensure each student is practicing social distancing in accordance to current CDC guidelines. Additionally, there will be hand sanitizing stations set up around the building that students are encouraged to use and signage is present in hallways and on floors to remind everyone to adhere to these rules.

Due to current circumstances, freshman orientation is for first year students only. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the high school.
