Good Afternoon Genet Families!

Today has been an whirlwind of excitement; not only because of Halloween tomorrow but also the first snowfall of the school year! Students looked great in their Orange and Black the past two days both in person and remotely! I loved the Fall spirit! Here are a few updates for the week:

Attention Families who are Returning from Full Remote:

Next week, families who have selected to return to Genet in the Hybrid Program from Full Remote will receive notification from my office regarding their child’s teacher assignment, supply list and cohort day/assignment. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to the Genet Main Office.

Genet Special Schedule for November 2, 2020

This week will be Week 3 of our Specials Rotation. This week will also be a “B” Week.  Please click here to download the rotation schedule: Genet’s Specials Schedule: Week 3

Winter Weather and Recess:

As the colder months draw near, we strive to have students outside for recess as long as the weather permits. This means that students must come to school with the appropriate attire (hat, gloves/mittens, boots, jacket, etc). If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your child’s teacher or the school’s health office.

Student Council sponsors Candy Gram Sale:

Our Student Council will continue with a school tradition of a candy gram for students and teachers. Candy Grams will cost 50 cents and we ask that if you choose to participate that the payment be exact as we are unable to make change. All proceeds will be donated to the Jimmy Fund.

Your child received a letter from Student Council advisor Mrs. Davis in their classroom this week. Attached to the letter will be cut ghost that a child may fill out with their name (From) and the recipients name (To). If a child does not know who the recipient’s teacher is, no worries, we will fill that in here at the Main Office.

All ghosts and monies can be returned to the school in a zip-lock bag or sealed envelope and be given to your child’s classroom teacher who will then drop it off to the main office.

Please click here to download the letter from Student Council: Genet Candy Gram Sale sponsored by Student Council.

Please click here to download the template for the cutout Ghost: Candy Gram Ghost Cutouts.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Mrs. Davis by email at davisjo@egcsd.org. Candy Sales will run until Tuesday, November 3rd.

PTO Boon Supply Fundraiser

Genet Coding Club is Back!

For any 4th and 5th grade student who is interested in learning how to code, Mrs. Virnelli will be holding two sessions for students who are interested. This opportunity is open to all in-person and full remote students in Grade 4 and 5. Sign-ups will be on a first come first serve basis. Please click here to download a parent letter outlining the club for your review: Genet Coding Club Parent Letter. This information was shared in our last Weekly Update from Genet and with students in 4th and 5th Grade in their classrooms.

Reminder!!! Emergency Preparedness Drill:

As shared on October 16th in a letter and in subsequent weekly updates, East Greenbush CSD will be practicing our mandatory emergency preparedness drill on Monday, November 9 and Tuesday, November 10 for our students who report in person. You can download a copy of the letter from Mr. McHugh here by clicking this link: Emergency Preparedness Drill: November 9th and 10th.

Halloween Flyer from Governor Cuomo

Last week I shared a communication from Governor Cuomo’s office regarding Halloween and suggestions to keep everyone healthy and safe next Saturday. I am sharing it with you and you can download it by clicking here: Halloween Message from Governor Cuomo.

Additional Reminders:

  • Remind your child to have their chrome books or chrome tablets charged for days they come to school.
  • If your child will be out for any reason on a day they are scheduled to be in person, please contact our attendance office at 518-207-2681 or email Mrs. Sandra Giordano at giordasa@egcsd.org as soon as possible. The earlier the better! Thank you for your attention to this.
  • Friendly reminder to wash all cloth masks 🙂

As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for your continued support of Genet and we sincerely wish you all a safe and healthy Halloween!

Sincerely,

Wayne Grignon
Principal
