Goff Middle School 8th grader Shreeya Gillela finished on the national leaderboard of the MY SO Challenge in Space competition last week. She placed 25th out of several hundred middle school students from across the country in the individual competition sponsored by Science Olympiad.
Ms. Gillela participated on the Goff Science Olympiad team as a 7th grader and continued her learning about space this past summer. Her preparation in this event allowed her to participate in last Thursday’s MY SO challenge.
“Shreeya was very brave to take the risk and compete alone, then to achieve such a high ranking nationally is awe inspiring,” said Goff Science Teacher and Science Olympiad Coach Donnamarie Vlieg.
The MY SO individual competitions will continue monthly throughout the school year.
Congratulations!
