Green Meadow Named 2021 National Blue Ribbon School

Green Meadow Elementary School was named a 2021 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education on Tuesday morning. The recognition is based on a school’s overall academic performance. Green Meadow is one of only 325 schools in the country, including one of 19 schools in New York to receive the 2021 National Blue Ribbon School award. Columbia High School placed 2nd at a local Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) competition sponsored by The College of Saint Rose. The sales competition was held virtually and included seven teams from five schools in the Capital Region.

Columbia’s students prepared for over a month to create a sales pitch for a college case study for the company, Cutco. During the virtual competition, the students presented their research including a buyer profile, value proposition and a customer benefit proposal.

“Mrs. Gruet and I are proud of the students’ efforts to create and prepare a presentation that was shared virtually with a panel of judges and participants of seven additional teams,” said Donna Shepardson, a Columbia business teacher and the FBLA co-advisor.
