Mrs. Mathis and Mrs. Anderson-Green in front of Black History Month display case.Howard L. Goff Middle School has been celebrating Black History Month throughout February. The activities were organized by the Black History Month committee comprised of students and teachers and meant to recognize the important contributions made by African Americans throughout U.S. history.

  • Display case in the main lobby features prominent African Americans who have had an impact on the United States. Its theme is “#BlackHistoryMonthMatters” and it has featured notable people such as Vice President Kamala Harris, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, Poet Amanda Gorman and Hall of Fame Baseball Player Jackie Robinson.
  • Short video biographies included in the weekly Goff TV series.
  • Book display in the Goff Library featuring prominent African American authors.

Special thanks to the Black History Month committee students which include Myint Aung, Aeris Corrodore, Shaylee Hanshe, Lynn Jeffers, Amari Rosas and Sania Taney and teachers Karen Anderson-Green and Rachel Mathis.
