The East Greenbush Central School District will be discussing its proposed use of federal COVID-19 relief funds and accepting public comments at the next Board of Education meeting scheduled for Wednesday, June 9 at 7:00 p.m. Comments may be submitted at boe.comment@egcsd.org.

In response to the pandemic, and its impact on student learning, the federal government has allocated additional funds to states to support their efforts to reopen schools safely.

East Greenbush CSD has been allocated $3,945,709 through the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSA) and $3,092,281 through the American Rescue Plan (ARP). To access these funds, the district must post written plans for the use of this aid by July 1, 2021. The aid will be utilized on either non-recurring expenditures or in ways that include the phasing out of expenses during the period of the grant(s).

School administrators have discussed ways of utilizing these federal funds, including investment in academic services, mental health, facility enhancements and technology purchases, while meeting the district’s strategic goals. It is seeking feedback from the school community on these plans before moving forward.
