Dear Bell Top Parents, Guardians, and Children,

Welcome back to school!

The new school year is starting soon, and the Bell Top teachers and staff are eagerly awaiting the return of students to full time, in-person learning for all grades K-5 on Thursday, September 9, 2021.

This summer Bell Top has had renovations and updates. We have improved restrooms in the hallways and in the K-2 classrooms. We also have a new and improved parking lot. Our summer maintenance crew has been diligently working to prepare Bell Top for the safe return of students and staff. All students will be expected to wear masks during arrival and dismissal, in common areas, and when traveling throughout the building. All staff return to work on Tuesday, August 31st; however, the first day of school for our students in Kindergarten through grade 5 will be on Thursday, September 9, 2021. Please contact our main office if you have any questions or need any additional information pertaining to the opening of the school year or any time throughout the year, at 518-207-2600, or you may email me at maharma@egcsd.org

I am a strong believer that all children and families feel welcome here at Bell Top school. My utmost concern for your child, as well as all individuals, is their safety and well-being, especially as we enter another school year with the Coronavirus pandemic. Our district has created an opening plan using the CDC guidelines, which means we will return with masks and a minimum social distance of 3 feet. The district will be sharing the school opening plans at the following upcoming event: Elementary School Parent Meeting (virtual) – Thursday, August 26 at 6:30 p.m. For more specific information, I encourage you to use our district’s website: https://egcsd.org/, the district’s Facebook page, and Twitter (@EGreenbushCSD) to stay informed of district news and school information such as the district’s opening plan and COVID-19 updates. My monthly newsletter will be posted on the Bell Top website:  https://egcsd.org/bell-top-elementary/principals-corner/.

Parent involvement has many benefits for a child’s success. Your partnership in educating your child is vital. Evening routines with homework, supporting learning at home, and joining the PTO to support the school are ways to stay connected and build the school-home-community relationship. All K-5 student supply lists are posted on the district website. Those parents that ordered through the PTO, supplies will be in the classroom. The Bell Top PTO website is:  Belltop PTO –.

I am truly looking forward to seeing all the children again upon their return.

Sincerely,

Martin Mahar
Principal
